That personally did it for me, looks like I'll be saving 20 bucks. Don't do any of these things even offline, because as soon as you load that character online, say hello to the ban hammer. There are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ videos of people using teleport hacks to do this ♥♥♥♥ and to insta-gib.
I've used texture mods with no apparent effect to multiplayer.
